Terry Fallis

Effective communications is all about storytelling. With more than 25 years in politics, public affairs, and public relations, Terry Fallis is a skilled and respected communications professional. He’s also an award-winning storyteller. His debut novel, a Canadian political satire entitled The Best Laid Plans, published by McClelland & Stewart, won the 2008 Stephen Leacock Medal for Humour, one of Canada’s oldest and most prestigious literary awards.

As Senior Counsellor and co-founder of Thornley Fallis Communications, Terry manages a broad range of communications and public affairs issues for public and private sector clients in many different fields. He also advises on, and participates actively in the emerging world of social media, including blogs, podcasts, and online communities. He co-hosts the popular weekly business podcast, Inside PR (www.insidepr.ca). He also blogs and podcast his novel, The Best Laid Plans, at (www.terryfallis.com). When combined with client podcasts, he has hosted or produced more than 300 podcast episodes.

Prior to co-founding Thornley Fallis Inc. in 1995, Terry served as President and C.E.O. of Berger & Associates, one of Canada's oldest public relations firms, where he led the agency's return to profitability. Before that, he spent more than six years with a major international public affairs and public relations consulting agency, where he was Vice President.

Terry has government and political experience at both the provincial and federal levels. He served for more than two years as Legislative Assistant to the Deputy Premier and Ontario Treasurer. Prior to this, he was a policy assistant to the federal Minister of State (Youth) and earlier served as National Youth Policy Chair for the 1984 Liberal election campaign. During the Liberal Leadership Campaigns of 1984 and 1990, Terry was Ontario Youth Chair and Ontario Policy Chair, respectively, for the Hon. Jean Chrétien.

Mr.Fallis earned his Bachelor of Engineering degree from McMaster University.
