Dave Fleet

Dave Fleet leads Thornley Fallis’ Social Media Practice. He brings his passion for social media, a results-based focus and creative thinking, along with seven years of communications experience, to all aspects of his work.

Dave Fleet is near-ubiquitous in the Canadian social media environment. His popular blog is ranked in the top 60 marketing and public relations blogs worldwide by Advertising Age Magazine, he is a co-organizer of Canada’s largest social media event – PodCamp Toronto – and he is a regular speaker at social media events. He has also been featured in top-tier mainstream media, such as City TV and the National Post, talking about social media.

Dave’s recent speaking engagements on social media include: Social Media Policies and Ethics – Social Media for Government Conference; Social Media in Emergencies – Social Media for Government Conference; Practical Social Media 101 – Canada Social Media Summit; Social Media Measurement – PodCamp Toronto 2009. Also a skilled communicator with both public and private sector experience, he joined Thornley Fallis from the Ontario government where he held a variety of progressive communications positions.

In 2008 Dave received the Ontario government’s Amethyst Award, the government’s most prestigious award for outstanding achievement. The award recognized his leadership in establishing and developing a network for young professionals providing networking, learning and leadership opportunities for tomorrow’s leaders. His current and past clients include Travelocity.ca, EnStream, the Ontario Real Estate Association, Allstate Canada, Hull and Hull, Canadian Tourism Commission, Pfizer and Commissionaires. He has also worked in online marketing and communications for large private-sector organizations including Hitachi Europe Ltd. and Lloyds TSB Plc. Originally from Cornwall, England, Dave holds an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and is a member of the International Association of Business Communicators.
