Carrie Croft brings enthusiasm for communications and a passion for effective relationship development to our media relations team at Thornley Fallis. A communications and event management professional with a strong dedication to teamwork, her unrelenting energy and commitment to her clients ensures campaigns are managed effectively and efficiently.

Ms. Croft’s aptitude for media relations comes from years of working as a media relations manager and spokesperson for Canadian sporting events, while also working as a communications consultant in Ottawa.  As a result, she understands the objectives of an organization seeking awareness and impact on public opinion through the media.

During the past few years, Ms. Croft has taken a lead role in the communications planning, execution and media relations delivery for numerous private sector and not-for-profit clients, including: the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, the Ontario Mission to the Canada Games, City Chase Inc., the FIL Viessmann Luge World Cup Whistler, the IIHF World Hockey Championships, the Ontario Summer Games, the Canadian Volleyball Open, the CIS Men’s Basketball Championships, Capital Fashion Week, and many more. 

A media relations strategist with experience working with local, national, and international media outlets, Ms. Croft is dedicated to ensuring her clients achieve their goals on time and on budget. She has developed close working relationships with numerous representatives from both sports and news media allowing her a greater opportunity to promote her clients interests through effective pitching and relationship management.

A natural communicator, Ms. Croft is at ease working with everyone from volunteers to senior executives.  Her experience working with both domestic and international clients provides her with the capacity to make her clients comfortable while maintaining a professional approach.

As an event manager, Ms. Croft is known to be highly organized and able to prioritize under tight deadlines and uncertain circumstances. She has led both large and small events, including supervising the Operations Communications Centre at the Olympic Athlete’s Village for the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and managing press operations at the FIL Viessmann Luge World Cup Whistler .

In 2009, Ms. Croft was the event director for the wildly successful Mitsubishi City Chase event in Ottawa.  The one-day event brought together over 900 participants, 150 volunteers, and 50 partners, sponsors, and staff.  The Ottawa event, led by Ms. Croft, raised over 20k for the official charity, Right to Play.

In addition to her professional experience, Ms. Croft volunteers for numerous athletic and professional associations, including the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Ottawa Chapter, where she has been instrumental in the organization and execution of the annual awards gala.

As a competitive athlete in her youth, Ms. Croft developed a strong sense of commitment and the ability to remain calm under extremely stressful circumstances, skills that have served her very well in her professional career. Her combination of athletic training and communications ability provide her with a unique skill set that contributes well to the overall objectives of Thornley Fallis and our clients.

At Thornley Fallis, Ms. Croft executes public and media relations; assists media training sessions and seminars; executes special events; and writes and edits communications products.

Ms. Croft is a graduate of Algonquin College’s Business Administration program with a Major in Marketing.  She received most of her pre-college formal education in French. She is fluent in English and is working to be certified fluent in French over the next year. She has also engaged herself in professional development and training programs in business development and French as a second language.  A strident believer in lifelong communications, she is looking forward to engaging in a continuing education program in 2011.
