It's 10:04 on my mom's birthday, May 15. The Penguins are desperately trying to tie the game in the last three minutes ... and my Age of Conversation essay's been in for over a day already!Wow, how relaxing that is to write.

After reading Made To Stick, by Chip and Dan Heath a while back (highly recommended btw), I revised many of my presentation materials. Chip and Dan spell out several ways to make stories stick and they know what they are talking about. It compelled me to retool and rethink the story I tell. It made me realize a key insight to my Fifteen Megs of Fame presentation needed to be put up front, not halfway through the presentation where it had been slotted.

If you've read this blog for a while, you know that I believe that social media is a game changer for public relations. It forces public relations people to come out from behind the curtain. How do I measure the effects of social media on me and my organization? At every conference I attend, most speakers present examples of the "successful" use of social media by individuals or companies. Most of these success stories are primarily anecdotal. Measurable results that can be compared to benchmarks and across other cases are much [...

Last week, I saw an article in AdAge that suggested that one of the world’s most famous ‘touch up’ artists, Pascal Dangin, had a hand in making the women in the Real Beauty campaign look gorgeous. Even though Unilever and Dangin have made statements denying the reports, AdAge maintains that it will still “go down [...

I'm going to be listening in on this Bulldog Reporter Audio Webinar today. The topic -- given Trapanigate, Longtailgate(hey -- sounds like a feature on a pickup truck), etc, etc , ad nauseam -- is incredibly timely: Tech Blog Pitching Update for PR." I'm hoping to try liveblogging it, which I've not done before. Bear with me.

Neat little site to tag brands found through Seth Godin (who gave a great speech at the CMA - Canadian Marketing Association National Convention and Trade Show on Tuesday May 13.) Brand Tags is "A collective experiment in brand perception." Quite an interesting concept. Check it out.
